Chimneys take the worst of the weather. On the coast, wind and salty rain wear the mortar out of the joints, crack the flaunching round the pots and lift old flashings, and a chimney that lets water in can damage the ceilings and walls well below it.

We do full chimney repairs and removals: repointing, partial and full rebuilds, replacement pots and caps, and new lead flashings where the stack meets the roof. If a chimney is no longer used, we can take it down below the roof line and tile or slate over it.

Can you remove a chimney I no longer use?

Yes. We can take an unused stack down below the roof line and slate or tile over it, so there's one less thing to maintain. If you want the chimney breast inside removed too, that needs proper support, and we'll talk you through it.

Why is my chimney breast damp?

Usually it's water getting in at the top or at the flashings: a cracked cap or flaunching, worn pointing or a failed lead flashing. We'll find the cause and fix it.

Do I need scaffolding for chimney work?

Most chimney work needs scaffolding or a chimney scaffold to do it safely. We'll include it in your estimate.
