New roofs & re-roofing in Lewes

Re-roofing in Lewes.

When an old Lewes roof finally needs replacing, the materials matter. Lewes town is inside the South Downs National Park and much of it is a conservation area, so like-for-like clay tile or slate is usually the way to go.

We strip the roof, check and repair the timbers, fit new breathable membrane and battens, and re-cover it, reusing sound old tiles where we can. On newer homes on the edges of town, we re-roof in whichever tile or slate suits the house.

What customers say

Our roof was in a terrible state - 25 years of patches and cheap repairs. Paul picked up my call straight away and was very clear about what they offered and what price ranges would be involved. … The end-result was great.

I can't recommend Paul and his team enough. His quote was very competitive and at every stage they let us know what was going on, even discussing some additional work that needed doing and agreeing a reasonable price for it. Throughout the job all his team, including the scaffolding company, were polite, respectful and clean. A very professional outfit doing a very professional job.

Goldhawk Roofing were reliable, responsive, prompt, tidy and friendly. … The guys did a complete survey providing photos so we could see the problem that needed repairing. So a good experience and happy to recommend.

New roofs & re-roofing in Lewes: questions

How long does a re-roof take?

It depends on the size of the roof and the weather. We'll give you a realistic timescale with your estimate, and keep the roof watertight every night while the work is going on.

Do I need planning permission to replace my roof?

Usually not if you're replacing like for like. If you live in a conservation area or a listed building, or want to change the material, check with your council first. In Brighton & Hove that's Brighton & Hove City Council.

Can you replace the fascias and gutters at the same time?

Yes. While the scaffold is up it's the ideal time to renew fascias, soffits, gutters and downpipes, and we do all of that ourselves.
